Coming soon— musical styling from our talented families, alumni, and friends!

Thanks to Andrew Mazzone (Tessa’s dad, MG) and the amazing facilities at the recording studio HI-N-DRY at the Armory Building in Somerville, we have been recording a CD of children’s music!  It has been another fantastic community project, and incidentally some wonderful music has been written and recorded.  (Kids from Agassiz are needed for several tracks, so let Tracey or Andrew know if you think your child is musical and/or gregarious!)

Andrew conceived the idea as a tie-in fundraiser associated with the annual Agassiz Concert, which will take place in early June.  The CD will include songs and stories from members of the community, and the concert will feature performances by some of the artists.

The CD will be on sale at the concert and available on the website around the same time.  Andrew has also decided to open up the concert to families in the neighborhood around the Armory, the arts complex just blocks from the New Agassiz Building.  We hope to have a festival-type atmosphere, with activities for kids in the building as well as music on the main stage.  Please let Andrew know if you are willing to help with the planning and outreach!

Yard Sale!

The Agassiz Preschool invites you to our annual yard sale/bake sale!

The Yard Sale is a fun event that is a great community service and an opportunity to recycle those wonderful, gently used, things. Lots of great Clothes, Toys, Books, Shoes and House-wares, donated from over 40 families.

Wear your pajamas and eat pizza!

Be sure to still pack their lunch though, the pizza is just for snack time.  Can’t wait to see all those cute jammies!

A giant thank you to all of you who worked the workday on the weekend. It was so fabulous to be at the new school & see the camaraderie, good energy & hard work. The building is looking stunning & it’s so fun to see how you all are putting in your mark. It really is a community effort & your hard work & time sacrifice is paying off big time! And our amazing organizers have gone beyond all expectations! It is so exciting & we are extremely grateful.

For those parents who can join us, our Valentines day potluck breakfast is this Friday the 12th.  Come be a kid again for an hour, make valentines day cards and play to your heart’s content…

We’d love to meet your child too! There will be plenty of art projects and games for your little one to play while we chat.

Agassiz Preschool Open House

Our profit was over $12,000 this year.  As you know this money is a major part of our scholarship fund, and will really help out so much with a young child’s education. Moreover, this was the first year in all of our 25 years of the tree sale that we sold out, not to mention sold out ahead of schedule!  You must all be some savvy salespeople, to be sure.

Again, many thanks – you are such an integral part of the school and huge reason for our success.

The tree sale is the fund raising tool for our scholarship fund, and its history stretches back 25 years.

We are selling trees and wreaths in front of the white church by Mass Ave in Porter Square. The sale will continue until December 20th.

We welcome you to attend the Agassiz Co-operative Preschool OPEN HOUSE! Come  see what the Agassiz is all about, right from our teachers and parents themselves.

We look forward to your visit – we’ve got exciting floor plans of our new building for you to peruse.  The building is located at 184 Summer Street in Somerville, MA, 02143 on the corner of Spring and Summer Streets. We are currently renovating it to become our new home.  With the parent’s help, we hope to have it ready in just a few months!

Scholarships are available. Your child can join our part-time, full time or extended day options.

The Relocation Committee has been working diligently with several local lenders to procure a manageable mortgage and construction loan for the renovation. The total cost of the property and renovation will be $1.15 million. To date we have secured significant support through fund-raising and cost savings, and anticipate a very favorable rate on our funding provided we can meet two conditions: additional grants and gifts to close the gap between funding and funds raised to date and a demonstrated commitment of the involvement of the Agassiz community.

This is where you come in. We now need to renovate the residential property so that it can be used as a school this fall. Visit “Giving” to see how you can help us raise this money. For a donation of $250, you can buy a tile to decorate and install in the new school! Please contact us for more information.
