Clay looks like wet playdough

6 Nov 2009

Yesterday’s project was teaching the kids about Clay. Richard brought out a super heavy box and asked everyone what they thought was inside. He opened it up and pulled out two HUGE blocks of brown clay. The clay blocks went around the circle so every kid could see how heavy they were – the kids giggled when it came to their turn and laughed as they pushed it off their laps and on to the next kid. Richard showed them how it sticks together, and that you can make all kinds of shapes with it. All the kids got their own lumps of clay and started making little sculptures. Some of the kids made pizzas and birthday cakes, others made mud and castles. They loved getting their hands all clay’ed up!
